I'm starting to look at the Airwindows plugins. It looks like there is a lot of really good stuff here, but with over one hundred plugins it is kind of overwhelming to make sense of it all.

It seems like these can be grouped into "families". Indeed, the description of any given plugin is often something like "This is like plugin XYZ, except that it includes a high pass prefilter to get rid of low frequency mud, and there is now an adjustable distortion effect applied to the output."

I wonder if it would be helpful for the community if we made a wiki somewhere that lists these plugins in groups with a description of each group and a brief explanation of what differentiates each plugin in the group.

It is baffling how many there are, and particularly when a lot of them don't seem to actually make any discernable difference to the sound. There are some gems though.

A wiki sounds like a good idea. There was a g-drive spreadsheet explaining what each one does, maybe that would be a good place to start if it is still around, could just be a tag added to be used as a filter. Unfortunately I can't find the link for it now.

Super cool idea! I started exactly the same thread in another forum, but no one is interested. I guess the people don't like it because there's not much eye candy. I don't like watching videos, so text would be much better.
I think there are some really good plugins, but most of the time I just don't know what they are doing and how to use them.

The Buss color plugins add a little bit (or a lot) distortion to increase the presence and make it sound a bit analog (at least this how I understood it)
The ADCLIP7 is a limiter / clipper to increase the loudness. A great function is that you can listen to the clipping signal alone.

Airwindows plugins might be good and interesting, but finding suitable is problem. Sure if you are looking for entertainment related to music production, then watching all those videos is good option.

But because I am not looking for long videos describing plugins, some wiki or other documentation would be nice.

I have been using these plugins for a while now.i use it to make my recordings sound more analog before exporting it to mix in Mixbus. I know mixbus is based on the analog system but I noticed when I do it this way after following some instructions from musician on a mission off of YouTube, I noticed the track sound a lot more natural I know I have a lot less filtering and Equalization to do.
Chris's tape delay I use on guitars. It's the only delay I found that does exactly what I wanted it to do.

Getting this information in bit tighter packet would be nice. I suppose presenting 11 plugins would fit to 10-15 minutes

But ok, for Airwindows, normal stuff. Plugins for people who are looking for music making related videos and have too much time.

For a more obvious effect I recommend trying out BussColors4 - for a more subtle effect I recommend checking out Interstage.

Most Airwindows plugins might seem too subtle for their own good, but I guess you just have to have an idea what musicians / recording enthusiasts would want to use them for. The descriptions are on the home page (it's quicker to read those than to watch the Youtube videos). Many of the plugins are intended for tackling the unappealing aspects of digital recordings that people that have worked with on DAWs are familiar with - the type of stuff that starts irking you when you've been mixing stuff for hours. For example, Interstage alters the lows and the highs in a way that at least I find satisfying. It's very subtle, but it does the trick.

btw, don't overlook his delays and reverbs. I think Chris has done some of the best free ones available in those categories for Linux (TapeDelay, NonlinearSpace, MV).
