new GxBoobTube.lv2

Post by tramp »

. . . so on request I did another one, the BoobTube. It's a variation of the ValveCaster overdrive pedal which I've posted earlier this week here. The "gain" control of the BoobTube is moved from the bias of the first half tube into between the 2 stages. This gives a "proper" gain control in comparison with the ValveCaster. Beside some changed components it runs on 40/60 Volt were the ValveCaster runs on 9/12 Volt.
Here is the sreeny:

and here you could get it:

LinuxMusicians guys, don't get deceived by the name. This plugin has some serious balls.

Good work, tramp! It's in my go-to list for really heavy guitar tones. I especially like that this thing doesn't eat up the lows, so I still have my own control on them.

I love it too!
Not for guitar, but as a soft saturator / brickwall limiter for drums and samples - the things for which the ValveCaster has too much gain.
I found it to perform exactly as you described & the default setting with the gain at 0.15 seems to hit the right spot.

With those plugins I think you have a seriously winning pair for gritty analog sounding productions :-)

Debian might have a problem with the name though:

It looks like they are going overboard with PC those days...

Well, Debian oh Debian, mmmh... So they allow and use systemdeed or pulsedeafo while they ditch weboob?

At least for GxBoobTube it's easy to anticipately "correct" the nym, let's go for "GxBollobTube, oh never mind :P

Why should we even pay any attention to this “political correct” bullshit if we like how does the software perform? Should I cut my wiener off and paint my skin black to satisfy those freaks even more? The name is awesome, it derives from a real hardware name, so any speculations on that should be ignored the same way that local SJW does with me. No renaming should happen to it. Ever. Period.

To add my 2 cents thank you Hermann, too. These two are really special.

I dug up and dusted off an old project done in ProTools LE from a long time ago (2002 maybe) for fun. The backing track was assembled in Reason 2.5

A quick-n-dirty remix later... https://soundcloud.com/carlv-1/the-juice (available for a limited time, only) the two lead guitars have BoobTube -> CreamMachine -> various IR(s), the rhythm and the drone, just have the Boob and an IR.

I truly hope you can hear your work in there. If i bypass either/or, it just ain't the same.

My guitar channel strip/template is getting pretty bare these days and that's a good thing... For me anyway.

Thanks again, Boob-a-la !

Always happy to share and if it can help spread the word a bit, all the better.

And thanks. I remember thinking at the time that it was probably better to quit while i was ahead.

Cheers all !
