Korg Legacy VST hosting on Linux?
Title says it all. Does anyone have any experience running the Legacy Collection VSTs in Carla?

Re: Korg Legacy VST hosting on Linux?
While the collection has some great sounds, and goes on sale once or twice
a year, the registration system gets lost in the dark, driving a fair share of
owners to the brink, with little or no support from Korg. If you haven't yet
stocked up on wine over-rides, now would be the time.
https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=193761 is a good resource
for wine/linux adventures.
A recent KLC topic at kvr:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 134c1485e4
some mention using the 32 bit versions, using a pci soundcard, and offline registration
(if indeed it is still possible) and emphasize never changing anything after installing,
and avoiding VPN's...
You might be better off getting the free versions of
Syntronik and SampleTank 3 from IK Multimedia, as their
account, registration, and 'Custom Shops' (for ala-carte purchases)
seem to work fine. Each has a free sound collection as a separate
download, so a fast internet is your friend. No other restrictions from IK
The free Reaktor Player also works, and comes with some fine content, and runs
user-library ensembles Of which many hundreds are wonderful)
for 30 minute sessions, before restarting Reaktor itself.
The library has a handy multiple rating system, but ensembles with several thousands of downloads
are an easy shortcut to the jewelry among them. Or many hundreds if the ensemble is
realeased this week.
Good luck!

Re: Korg Legacy VST hosting on Linux?
I just tried to install Reactor Player 6 with wine (on AVLinux 2017.4.9) and the installer said Windows 7 or higher was required, so that did not work. Any work-around for this problem? Thanks.

I don't know if you need any dll overrides, but you can change the windows version with winecfg.
Reaper/KDE/Archlinux. i7-2600k/16GB + i7-4700HQ/16GB, RME Multiface/Babyface, Behringer X32, WA273-EQ, 2 x WA-412, ADL-600, Tegeler TRC, etc For REAPER on Linux information: https://wiki.cockos.com/wiki/index.php/REAPER_for_Linux

@ varpa: If you have cabextract and fileroller installed, you could manually
extract the installer, and use these or similar paths for the parts:
/home/me/.wine/drive_c/users/Public/Documents/Reaktor Factory Selection
/home/me/.wine/drive_c/users/Public/Documents/ensembles
/home/me/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Native Instruments/Reaktor 6/Reaktor6.exe
/home/me/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/VstPlugins/Reaktor 6.dll
/home/me/.wine/drive_c/users/Public/Documents/Mikro Prism (a good free NI synth)
When Reaktor is launched, a 3"x4" panel opens with choices to run or register,
it might open behind a daw, if it isn't obvious, and might open a second time
when you select an instrument or ensemble. Ruhr ensemble is a pretty impressive modular,
if you love such things.
Ensembles have a .ens extension, instruments have a .rkplr extension, and both
can be loaded from the little triangle widget on the right side of the
REAKTOR title, which opens a files menu, use File-->open ensemble
Also, a typical file browser tab sits just beneath the REAKTOR title,
and when populated, you can drag your choice to the main window to launch it.
Probably enough youtubes to power a nice yacht
I'm using wine-staging from wineHQ repository.

Re: Korg Legacy VST hosting on Linux?
Thanks for the suggestions and links. Seems not to be so easy then, although WineHQ gives it gold rating.

Thanks, but I really am looking specifically at ways to run the Korg Legay Collection. I have recored quite a lot with the original PolySix, and what I really want to do, is to create a setup which sounds as close to my real rig as possible. The PolySix is just so distinctive, and the Legacy version is very close to the real thing.glowrak guy wrote:You might be better off getting the free versions of

Here's a video of U-he Diva being used for a polysix bass:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKvwvNkspuw
This discussion mentions Diva in positive light quite often,
the linux version is very stable, it's demo has quiet crackling as
the limitation, so experiments are not to be dreaded. There are
multicore and cpu quality options as well:

Here's a video of a Diva 3rd-party soundset:

Re: Korg Legacy VST hosting on Linux?
Maybe the ipad polysix version is an option? it gets some good comments,
and a used ipad combined with the Korg price and sound,
without the reg hassles, isn't bad for sound you love.
Syntronik uses sampled filters and oscillators, among other things,
to get the vintage sounds of Korg competitors, 30 minutes
and a gig download...
The KV331 SynthMaster One is a wavetable synth that runs well in wine,
extremely flexible, great sound, and fun to cycle through the waves
in the large preset collection. Gui resizes in linux.
Cheers

I was trying to consolidate it since I figured they were the same, but I'll create a new thread if that's the etiquette here.
