Re: Sonarworks Headphone Calibration Plugin
FWIW: in my system (again, Debian Sid) Arnd's workaround did not work in KDE (I'd assume because it uses kdialog, not zenity), but switching to fluxbox, the workaround worked!

Re: Sonarworks Headphone Calibration Plugin
Hi guys,
I just put out 4.1.6.6 (http://d38ygt50eys6ee.cloudfront.net/Do ... 1.6.6/Beta) where I attempted to introduce the fix to reset LD_LIBRARY_PATH as described previously by Arnd. I still haven't set up a different test distro, but this did not break anything on my test system so if anyone with the failing systems can try out if this fixes the need to patch the Ardour start script, I'd be grateful.

Just tried in Ardour on Arch64bit and crashed instantly as usual.rudolfs.bundulis wrote:Hi guys,

Re: Sonarworks Headphone Calibration Plugin
Hi funkmuscle,
well yeah, you apart from the others had a crash instead of the freeze when launching zenity, so I sent you a PM - if you can get me a coredump which I'd be grateful for, I could look into what is going on.
Hi finotti,
weird, seems fine for me, can you simply retry after a while? Maybe the CloudFront CDN has not propagated everywhere.

Yes, it worked now! I will give it a try tonight or tomorrow morning.rudolfs.bundulis wrote: Hi finotti,

I just did some quick tests:
- On Carla the behaviour is unchanged, it still hangs...
- On Ardour it now causes Ardour to hang as soon as I select the profile selection drop down
I'll try to run strace later today...

Hi Arnd,
nope, all I did was. Ok, it seems I will have to setup my own distro for testing.
nope, all I did was
Code: Select all
putenv("LD_LIBRARY_PATH=");

Re: Sonarworks Headphone Calibration Plugin
FWIW:
OK, tried the new version today, and it worked just fine for me in Ardour.
So: previous version would freeze in KDE and fluxbox when clicking on the drop down menu to select headphones. Arnd's fix worked in fluxbox, but not KDE, which led me to believe that fluxbox uses zenity and KDE uses kdialog.
Now, the new version (with no fix for zenity) works in both KDE and fluxbox in Ardour! (Also works in Carla, but only tried KDE with it.)
Again, the system is running Debian Sid.

There is a difference between your and my fix:
- I used
Code: Select all
unset LD_LIBRARY_PATH
- You used
Code: Select all
set LD_LIBRARY_PATH=
There seems to be a different behaviour here: If it is set but empty (your fix) the system uses the current directory for LD_LIBRARY_PATH (ie. it is not empty):
(see https://unix.stackexchange.com/question ... brary-path)If LD_LIBRARY_PATH is empty, it is ignored. If it is set to empty values (with LD_LIBRARY_PATH=: for example), those empty values are interpreted as the current directory.
There is also another environment variable which may have an impact: GTK_PATH:
Using my zenity script, it works whether I unset LD_LIBRARY_PATH or GTK_PATH...
