Recommend Me Do: TB-303 emulator

Post by Baggypants »

Can someone recommend a TB-303 emulator with the pattern sequencer? Something like this

http://www.errozero.co.uk/acid-machine/

or Rebirth. I know about nekobee and am using it but I'd like the sequencer too.

I'd recommend having a look at the Oomek Aggressor 303 in Buzztrax http://buzztrax.org/
It doesn't have a built tin sequencer per se, but the looping tracker interface might be what you are looking for.
(or you can also try in in Buzz on Wine).

As for nekobee, I don't think it qualifies anyway as a decent 303 emulation.

You might like to try the JX-10 plugin here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/mda-vst/
It's included in the zip, along with a nice DX-10 plugin and a host of various effects plugins too. :)

Thanks folks, I'll check those out. Buzztrax looks interesting for different reasons too.

In the meantime I found this from ancient times http://www.ossh.com/reborn/reborn-i386-1_0.tar.gz

It's a linux ReBirth clone that was apparently shut down by Propellerheads due to the similarity of the interface, not Jack, not even ALSA.

it needs 32bit gtk+ lib and you need to launch it with padsp (or padsd-32 if you're on 64 bit) and the gui is late 90's small and it's a proprietry as anything, but by jove, it seems to work. If you run pulseaudio with the jack sink you can even patch it into other things.

If you don't mind running win32 VSTs, there's Venom VB-303. Sounds nice but replicates the exact ergonomy of a real 303 :?

Wow, I had never heard about that one - you've made a real archaeologic discovery here ;-)
I would certainly have been happy to find it back in 2005, but gtk 1.2... nowadays that's just too old...
Impressive that you got it working, but as barbouze said: for serious work it will probably be less troublesome to run a Windows plugin through a bridge.

Another option: LMMS includes an "LB302" ("almost" a 303!), looks like this: https://lmms.io/documentation/Working_w ... ent_Window
