Noise reduction plugins?

Noise reduction plugins?
I have a recording that has a lot of floor/background noise and I want to clean it.
I remember I did some experimenting with this one year ago, when I was still learning about JACK, music apps etc. I don't remember what it was that would let me pick a "sample" of about a second in the recording (when no voice was present) and cancel that background noise out over the entire recording. The result wasn't perfect, but it was good enough. I know it was on Linux and on Ardour, because I tested Ardour a lot back then. But I can't find the plugin. Does anyone here know what plugin it could be?
Other suggestions welcome, including Windows plugins.

Yes, it might've been. Too bad it doesn't run on my system anymore. It's been like that for months.

Check your audacity settings and see if you have jack or pulse as your audio service. Try switching between them. I'm sure it's just a setting.

First, it refuses to run with my current GKT theme. Among hundreds of programs I have, it's the only one that has that problem, but whatever. I change the theme only because of His Majesty, and it still complains:MattKingUSA wrote:Check your audacity settings and see if you have jack or pulse as your audio service. Among hundreds of programs I have, it's the only one that complains about the locale, but whatever. I add en_GB and run locale-gen. And it still complains:02:28:01 PM: Audacity 2.1.2
02:28:01 PM: Warning: Cannot set locale to language "English".
02:28:01 PM: Error: locale 'en_GB' cannot be set.
It's broken.(Audacity:12848): Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_disable_setlocale() must be called before gtk_init()

Re: Noise reduction plugins?
Thanks, but it's only source, no packages. And I have no idea how to build it. I read whatever little documentation that comes with it.j_e_f_f_g wrote:http://isse.sourceforge.net/index.html

Did you try turning your computer off and on again? Just kidding. Perhaps reinstalling it?

Re: Noise reduction plugins?
If you cant live without it you could reinstall your os. Do you have a /home and /root partition? If not you would have to backup all your stuff. I remember back in the day i had a hard drive for / and a hard drive for /home. I think i even tried a dedicated swap haha. That was silly. And that was back in 2002. but back on topic maybe give these guys a shout http://forum.audacityteam.org
