Hi, everyone! I'm VectorPeasley; you can call me Vec.
I have a question regarding the factory plugins used with LMMS.
LMMS comes packaged with a number of useful effects and plugins. The effects are achieved through a standard known as LADSPA. That much I understand.
However, when it comes to the factory (that is, default) plugins packaged with LMMS for synthesizing instruments, that is where my question arises.
Are the default plugins (such as ZynAddSubFX, SFXR, BitInvader, FreeBoy, AudioFileProcessor, etc.) VSTs (like, the ones maintained by Steinberg), or are they DSSIs?
Thank you for your time!

Awesome. Thank you for the quick reply.falkTX wrote:neither, they use their own custom internal format.
those plugins can't be used outside LMMS.
May I ask the name of this internal standard used exclusively within LMMS?
Thanks again.

it's not a standard per se, it's *internal*.
most DAWs have some sort of internal format for quick little things, this is similar.
I understand. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
One more quick thing: is LMMS able to support DSSIs, seeing as it can handle VSTis (through the VesTIge plugin). If so, how would I go about installing them?
If I need to start a new thread for this topic, I will.
Thanks again!

Not at this time, no.VectorPeasley wrote:One more quick thing: is LMMS able to support DSSIs,
If you get the latest version from git (the stable-1.1 branch) then you'll be able to use DSSI, LV2 and LinuxVST instrument plugins via Carla, however LMMS-Carla doesn't yet support automations so the use cases are a bit limited.

I'm looking forward to the time that LMMS will support DSSI and LV2.
You guys are awesome.

Re: About LMMS and DSSIs.
In case you are new to linux audio, zynaddsubfx is also a widely used stand-alone synthesizer,VectorPeasley wrote: Are the default plugins (such as ZynAddSubFX, SFXR, BitInvader, FreeBoy, AudioFileProcessor, etc.) VSTs (like, the ones maintained by Steinberg), or are they DSSIs?
available in most repositories, that you can use outside of LMMS. An excellent forked version, Yoshimi,
is also available, and uses the same soundsets.
Cheers
