Antress Modern Plugins? Supposed to be emulations of vintage comps,eqs. Not sure how accurate they are (my lack of familiarity with the original hardware) but they sound great. No longer maintained but I think the author gave his blessing for further development by others.

Hmmmm. Not that great? Some people says it's as good as Maag EQ4. Didn't test it myself thought....

What about Audjoo Helix synth?

It was apparently FLOSS before going commercial.I know JUCETICE used to package it but I never got it to run, at least I never saw its GUI if its got one in the open source version but I've heard much good stuff about it.

I'd love to have a FLOSS alternative to TAL-Noisemaker - something that can compete with it on features/sound/GUI and hopefully be more CPU efficient too!

Some Linux devs only care about themselves! Didn't they have a GPL?

C'mon, man! If the code is broken, has a GPL, and can be improved to be included in Distrho project, couldn't you give the new and improved code back to the community and developer of the code?

Maybe they just don't care about the GNU General Public License! Well, they should make their code proprietary as they should. LOL!

If so, its not such a big deal as we have the vee1 suite which is being actively developed (new release was just made today) but it was I who wrote to George of DiscoDSP in May 2012; I told him about DISTRHO and I wanted to clarify the Highlife license. He told me it was BSD licensed and that he wasn't going to ask F to remove it - I still have the mails to prove it. Not that I'm really that bothered about using software of someone who goes against their word.

danboid is right. So you're completely free to do whatever you want with the source code of HighLife. I've just checked the HighLife disclaimer and it's indeed an old style four clause BSD license.

I've recently had the urge to make some music like it was 1983 but I've come up empty handed looking for chiptune plugins that I could use under qtractor.

I realise this isn't quite what F was requesting but still I'd very happy if he could have a look at how hard it would be to transform reMID into a LV2 /VSTi plugin. It is currently a standalone GTK JACK client.

reMID requires resid which isn't in Debuntu repos. The bigger issue is that I tried compiling it last night with no luck - I got the impression it expected J1 or an older version of J1 but I'm just guessing.

I have written to its author (I think I got the right email) to ask about my build prob and if he's considered updating it himself to make usable as a LV2 or VSTi plugin but I honestly expect F would find that task easier than its author, if F can get it to build that is?
