They have some interesting synths and effects. Too bad they don't have audio demos which I don't care to download the VSTs and try them in WINE with Carla.

Music Interest: New Age w/ a mix of modern smooth jazz, light techno/trance & downtempo -- something Epcot Future World/Tomorrowland-flavored.

The Datsounds Obxd is an emulation of the Oberheim OB-X. It was just released a few days ago for Windows. It's released under the GPL and source is available. It's already been ported to Mac OSX. It would be great to have this on GNU/Linux!

They aren't plugins though, and I've found bristol to be interesting. I was super excited when I first found it, but I had a few stability issues with it on my system and the synths all seem to use the exact same filters and oscillators, just rerouted to match the control surface of the synth. So I didn't get really into the sound like I did from amsynth or others. Maybe I should try again. I've learned a fair bit in the years since I tried it last. They all look good though!

A dedicated OB recreation would be a fun plugin.

it would be cool if the bristol synths were ported to lv2. When I used claudia it hardly made a difference but it would be nice if it could be loaded into carla too.

http://www.anarchy-rhythms.com/#anarchy-effects at the bottom (before the comments) it says these are released under LGPL now. Don't know where the source is though.

it's made with juce, so a linux lv2 and vst should be easy to get.
I'll contact the author.
It would be fantastic if somebody could adapt OBxd to Linux! :D

This seems to be the best Oberheim soft synth ever made, at least according to folks on gearslutz, they say it sounds even better than commercial Oberheim soft synths.

See thread about it on gearslutz:

I forget to mention in my original post that Obxd seems like a *really* nice synth. I spent 15 minutes demoing the Windows version and concluded that Obxd would most likely be my favorite polysynth if it was available for GNU/Linux.

i was able to build a x64 vst from obxd.
I´m not a programmer, so please use this only for demoing, not for serious work.
- or wait until falktx makes a professional build.
Works for me in qtractor, carla und muse, sadly don´t works in tracktion.

Doesn't work in ardour also. Can't start ardour with the vst in the vst path.
Hope falk or somebody else will package it ;-).

Here's a go at making an LV2 version (using the JUCE-LV2 wrapper from distrho):
Obxd.lv2.zip

This is the first time I've tried to build something using JUCE, so no guarantees. It did at least work when I loaded it in carla.

I had to make a few changes to get it to compile properly-- the code is in the obxd branch of a fork of distrho, so it can be seen here.
