In Cadence go to the 'Tools' tab and click on 'Logs' to see JACK and A2J logs.

We could do with a bit more info. Is it hw:0 you want to use?

Quite often it's pulseaudio so try

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install pulseaudio-module-jack
if you don't have that already.

It was most likely installed on your system though. If you don't install it you will need to manually set up your system for realtime use.
It looks like you don't have the right card selected in cadence's settings.

I think you want to start Jack. Maybe Jack started for the wrong audio device. We musicians/music producers usually have an external USB audio device. Maybe the following works.

1. Determine audio card "number" w/ the command:

Code: Select all

cat /proc/asound/cards
2. Start Jack, for example, for your second audio device (number 1). The first audio device (number 0) is usually the on-board audio card which you do not want to use.

Code: Select all

jackd -d alsa --device hw:1

pulseaudio-module-jack was installed. so next
cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [HDMI ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel HDMI
HDA Intel HDMI at 0xc1310000 irq 52
1 [Loopback ]: Loopback - Loopback
Loopback 1
2 [PCH ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel PCH
HDA Intel PCH at 0xc1314000 irq 49 so i assumed i need 2 as no hdmi connected dit
jackd -d alsa --device hw:2 resulted in

Before the cntr c i try cadence that say stopped .So in a moment i remembered Linuxmusisian1 hint and go to cadence configure and changed to hw:0 to hw:2

Glad you got it working.

Tangential side note: Every time I see this thread pop up, I want it to be in the "Original Scores & Recordings" subforum so that I can listen to somebody's original piece of music called "i could cry".
