KXStudio is a full distribution (a collection of lots of software) built around the Linux kernel, not a single program.

Do you mean why you have to install the KX repository manually instead of installing the desired packages directly from your distribution's package manager?
This - just by using your package manager of your distribution - would be more convenient than adding the KX repository afterwards.
