Yes, I use Ubuntu Mate 18.04 with KXstudio. It's very safe
. Just 9 audio softwares lost their icons.

Neon is testing upgrades to 18.04. Working... smooth-ish. Only issue so far seems to be fixing my PPAs and other sources.

Your PPAs are quite mixed in terms of the release that they reference from memory. Should one update the apt sources.lists for the kxstudio packages to reference bionic?

What I found was that the /etc/resolv.conf was present and may have permissions issues. If you delete it and then connect, then it is replaced with a valid address containing resolv.conf. If that doesn't work then a symlink to /run/NetworkManager/resolv.conf worked for me. In order to generate the correct /etc/resolv.conf you might need to delete the old one and then restart NetworkManager or networking with systemctl.
I can't wait to see it btw... :D

networking issues aside KXStudio worked great straight out of the box, but after `dist-upgrade` I cannot add plugins to a session with Claudia. (Image attached)

I have tried a bisection by manually installing packages that would have been installed by the upgrade but haven't found the culprit yet. The same is true when installing Claudia on non KXStudio Ubuntu machines from 14.04 to 18.04 8(

Is there a minimal set of repo's to use for 18.04+? Are there instructions/scripts for building the KXS packages from their sources?

Cheers

falkTX, I eagerly await the upcoming .ISO release.

Any new news on the expected release date?

I downloaded the beta and tested it but partially due to the no internet issue, I was unable to discover anything that might have helped with it.

I was wondering if there might be a new beta available to test or if I could help test in some other way?

I recently salvaged a few machines (mostly laptops) and would like to set them up with KXStudio other than 14.04.5 LTS which is what most of my other (salvaged) machines run. I should be able to offer some useful feedback while testing installations on the latest salvaged machines.

Installed the 18.04b1 to my Dell 5285 tablet. Everything "seems" to work. A huge number of updates came in today and yesterday, fixing a problem I had when I tried Monday of plasma-desktop getting uninstalled.

Are we getting closer since Kde Neon announced that they are official?

I had a hard time with Neon, maybe I'm getting too old for changing my habits, but I can't really deal with its behaviour and look and feel. I'll stuck with Mate 18.04 and the repos.

Would it be possible to install the neon version NOW and apply the magic falkTX scripts and audio goodness when released LATER?

I've got an empty drive that's waiting for the next release of KXStudio. This will be go into a box that currently has KXStudio 14.04 running. Let me know if you want me to do test installs. :)

Why removing the file indexer ?

What if I want the file indexer and to be able to just manually turn it off if necessary for me? I appreciate and use the file indexer.

I've also found that pulse, while awkward in some ways, works well through the JACK bridge and having it makes sure that all programs function (some don't have non-pulse builds).
