Jack not starting up

Post by bertibott »

Hi,
I am pretty new to the whole linux audio thingy... I dabbled in it for a bit some ten years ago... but never really got anywhere.
I am somewhat experienced with linux as my OS of choice though...

So here is what happened:
I downloaded the KXStudio ISO and installed it on my machine. After it was done, I let synaptic run all the updates and installed the pulseaudio-module-jack and the driver for my nvidia graphics card.

After that I wanted to start with some simple voice recording.
But as soon as I set the Output device to my external soundcard (Samson Studio GT... a rather simple USB audiointerface... basically a pair of speakers with two microphone inputs that connect via USB) jack won't start anymore.
The log shows this:

Code: Select all

Tue Mar 13 12:59:42 2018: Starting jack server...
Tue Mar 13 12:59:42 2018: JACK server starting in realtime mode with priority 10

What to do?

Mhmh...
After some more research I found this post: https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2357828
In short he fixed his problem by using a different usb port... That did it for me as well...Though I "downgraded" from USB 3 to USB 2...
I don't understand why... I never had problems with it using any port...

So... the problem was solved through magic and random things... but obviously only AFTER I posted on a forum... brilliant...
