emhuisken wrote:Hello,
I use ARDOUR 5.12.0 downloaded from ardour.org. This works fine, needs no asio-driver.

After upgrade 17.10 -> 18.04 I wanted to install REAPER 5.80 which needs Wineasio. Had this program before, on another computer for special purposes. I installed kxstudio repos and activated gcc5. But no wineasio package available.

What to do now?
Thanks
emhuisken
Are you aware of the native reaper built? There's no need to use wine

Thanks for the information - no, I'm not. Where can I get it?

Check this link: https://wiki.cockos.com/wiki/index.php/REAPER_for_Linux

It's not allowed to directly link to the site that begins with L and ends with T
It works so good that I wonder why they don't make it official.

I wonder the same. Weird. It's working pretty good in all the systems I've tried.

Maybe they just have a high standard and it's not perfect yet. On the other hand I didn't find any problems yet.

Slightly off-topic, but regarding ardour and issues with plugin UIs:
ardour 6 will remove support for Gtk and Qt plugin UIs

What´s the consequence of that? I guess many plugins can´t be use then with Ardour, like the v1 synths, etc. ?

I've got the impression that the Ardour developers don't like CALF plugins

I cannot believe it will not be possible to update Guitarix from KXStudio repo
It is one of the building blocks of the linux audio system (at least for guitarists)

Please... keep supporting it

Some notes:
guitarix was updated, up to the point it switched to curl library.
due to differences on curl ABI and packaging (libcurl3 vs libcurl4), I cannot update guitarix further or its build will stop working for 18.04
Are you sure?
Guitarix ain't depend on a special version of libcurl, and work with both.
You could build it against libcurl3, and it still work with libcurl4! (I've just done exactly that.)
Both libcurl (3 + 4) versions provide "libcurl.so.4" which is used for linking.
All you need to do is using in the dependency field of the package "libcurl3|libcurl4" instead only one version, then the version installed will be used.
