I am trying to solve a problem I have with installing KXStudio 16.04.2 LTS.
I tried to install it on a Dell Dimesnsion 3000 (upgraded to 2 Gig Ram) with 40 Gig HDD.
On the live DVD installation it worked fine and was really fast and appeared to have a lot of potential on this machine as it seemed very smooth and snappy. After installing it to the hard drive however it wouldn't reboot - unless I use the DVD again!
All that happens is that after the initial Dell screen the cursor just continues blinking and that is the end of that. I've tried going into the BIOS screen but nothing seems to work.
Can anyone suggest any possible solutions?

You say you have tried going to BIOS screen.
Have you made sure (by saving) the BIOS settings: System boots from "HDD only" (not from "pluggable devices")?
Modern BIOSes/UEFIs also offer "UEFI/legacy" boot modes sometimes. Have you tried a "legacy" boot mode for your HDD?
Can you make sure your HDD is the first boot option in BIOS?
(Sorry I have no idea about your system BIOS )
Hope this helps

Another idea:
Modern Dell PC are primarily designed for Win*, featuring a "secure boot" option in BIOS.
Maybe it helps disabling that "secure boot" option in the BIOS? (most linux distros don't deliver a boot loader with digital signature à la MS/Win )

There is an error on the .iso image (tried 14.04 32bit aka i386) that leads to all packages getting removed again after install. If you read up on manually installing (basically rsyncing a running live session to an empty ext4 partition, then installing / configuring grub), you may succeed.
