I have a question concerning the KXStudio repositories.
I am running ubuntu 12.04 (precise)
In synaptic, there are several repositories I am curious about:
kxstudio-repos-kde49 (KXStudio repositories (KDE 4.9)) version: 6.1~precise1
This one ^^^ is installed ^^^
kxstudio-repos-backports (KXStudio repositories (backports)) version: 7.1.0~precise2
This one ^^^ is not installed^^^
kxstudio-repos (KXStudio repositories) installed version: 7.2.0~precise1 ... latest available version: 8.2.3~kxstudio1
This one ^^^ is "installed (upgradeable)"
I notice about the last one, the upgradeable kxstudio-repos, that it remains held back when updating through synaptic.
I have just run:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
and
reloaded the package information in synaptic
When I mark all upgrades, nothing changes
My question and curiosity is about the following:
I had a problem with ZynAddSubFX 2.4.4 with saving and loading parameter files.
I upgraded to ZynAddSubFX 2.5.0+git20150428-1kxstudio3 via synaptic but still had a substantially similar issue.
I understand that ZynAddSubFX version 2.5.1 (git) either is or will be available very soon in the KXStudio repositories.
I am now trying to obtain ZynAddSubFX version 2.5.1 (git) via synaptic through the KXStudio repositories.
I am wondering if I must/should enable/upgrade any of the repositories listed above in order to accomplish this?
I plan to upgrade to the 14.04 as soon as it is released as stable; should I wait until then? However, I would like to complete the projects I am working on at this time.
Thank you for any assistance.

Re: A question concerning the KXStudio repositories
Thank you, falkTX.
Now, I must decide between debian >= 8 (jessie) and ubuntu >= 14.04. It is nice to have a few weeks to finally decide between the two.
Could you mention a few words about the benefits of debian / ubuntu in this upcoming news?
In the meantime, I will try to locate information available on linuxmusicians.com in order to help me to decide which one of the two I will finally install. And list some links here in this thread. Maybe find an existing thread about debian vs ubuntu or start a new thread.
Thanks again, falkTX.
I look forward to that news.I was supposed to write some news about this, but I suck for this kind of thing...
I'll try again to write something about this situation tonight.
