REW and Ubuntu 12.03

Does anyone USE Room EQ Wizard?

I downloaded it for using to test PA systems for response and phase. Got it kind of working on my laptop but its prettys low. My laptop has lubuntu 13.04 with the kx studio repos on it and it can output sound.

But in kx studio i have failed to get it to play any of the test noises or sweeps.

I know this isnt a kx studio issue - REW doesnt support jack it uses java but since any other non jackaware program has worked using the alsa bridges i thought this should too. Ive tried all outputs in the programs configuration and nothing.
