thats what i done with the lubuntu install.
i followed the kx repo guide and pulled in all the packages, except kde i think though i do have some kde apps that i use.
works very well

i tried it with lubuntu and mint17, and everything went fine until i realized that i couldn't use the control buttons on my keyboard anymore and that the sound icon disapeared on the dashboard.
i also had issues with cadence, giving me errors at start, both on lubuntu and mint. just wouldn't start automatically, i had to force-start it and it kind of overpassed the error message and started anyway. i found that a little strange.
