How do I set up the distro for full function with a Alesis MultiMix 8 USB mixer?
I need to once again submit screens and stuff, right?
The machine I set up a couple of months ago quit on me.
I am now running a system with the AMD 3, I have 4 GB of RAM and nearly 2 TB (soon to be over 2 TB) of disk space spread out over three HDs.
I am such a newbie to operating the software. How do I get sound to and from the board via USB to play on the connected amp (by standard phono outs).
Is there a manual that will walk me through with Ardour and the others? This is a machine dedicated to music production.

Don't know anything about Alsa support of the Alesis MultiMix 8 - it is not listed in the Alsa sound matrix: http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index. ... dor-Alesis. The only hope is if it uses the USB2.0 audio standard. If it requires proprietary drivers there is not much chance of working in linux. Well just plug it in and see if it shows up in QJackCtl.
Some references on Ardour: https://community.ardour.org/community Start with the introduction to Ardour floss manual.
Dave Phillips has many good articles on linux audio: http://www.linuxjournal.com/users/dave-phillips Look for ones on Jack and QJackCtl for starters.
