is there any good reason that non-sequencer package in KXStudio repos is old and actually outdated at the moment?

are there any major problems with the actual (git) version?

2) is it possible to package HarmonySEQ?
well, i know that it appears to be abandoned, but it still has quite a lot of unique features.

Yes, there are some major drawing/repaint issues and a few crashes.
well, it's my primary sequencer for rehearsal / live use, and i never had crashes since this commit

but YMMV

Yes, but please do a feature request here so I don't forget..

done.

regarding non-sequencer:
is it possible to have both old/stable & new/not_so_stable versions packaged?

not after 16.04 is released at least.
I recommend sticking with 14.04 and KDE4 for now.
I have a few questions regarding this. Last year you mentioned the headaches of updating everything to comply with kde3-5 and gtk2/3, and then in December you posted in here saying the repos should be ready for 16.04. Does this mean you have made everything compatible with kde5 and gtk3, and that we might be good to go on a fresh install of 16.04 when it hits final? Only asking because I'm building a new workstation pretty soon, and would like to know if I should wait for 16.04 or stick with 15.10. I know I could stick with 15.10 because it just works, but I would hate to lose future support for kxstudio or any other repos I use. Are there any plans to eventually make a new 16.04-based iso release? Also, since you're still suggesting 14.04 over 15.10 at this point, is there a list anywhere of what is broken in 15.10? I'm concerned with hardware support in 14.04 since I'll be building with new parts, and would like to avoid adding my own kernel patches if possible. Sorry for all the questions, and I hope this isn't in the wrong thread!

Maybe PD vanilla would be a better choice :?
PD extended, as great as it is, hasn't been updated for a long time (still 0.43.4) and miss quite a few improvements that PD vanilla (0.46.7) offers now like better jack, ALSA, MIDI and OSC support. :(

Thanks for the great work. My suggestions for additions/updates:
  • ctrlr as others have suggested. I've not yet succeeded in compiling it myself, but could really do with a universal sysex editor
  • Current ALSA firmware - maybe v1.0.28? Doesn't make a huge difference to me as firmware for my old Tascam seems unchanged since v1.0.20, but extra hardware support in newer versions might help others to work 'out of the box'
  • sequencer 24 and/or sequencer64 - the current seq24 seems to have JACK transport problems, and sequencer24 seems an attempt to fix some old bugs; with sequencer64 for future enhancements. I haven't yet had time to compile/test either of these, but hoping to in the coming weeks.

You can build this plugin for Linux. It requires some edits to the Makefile but it will build, install, and perform successfully. falkTX helped me figure out how to do it, hopefully he'll add the synth to his collection of ports.

I would be interested about the general principles of editing a makefile to get something to build. Care to share Dave? TIA

My bad, I didn't edit anything in the Makefile per se, but you can read all about it here :
