Package requests here! (New and updates)

Postby falkTX » Tue Feb 05, 2013 10:05 am

This topic is to be used to request new and updated packages of software for the KXStudio repositories.
Feel free to request anything, just follow these rules:

1 - Check wherever there's source code or not.
If not, the app might go into the non-free repository IF redistribution of binaries is allowed.

2 - Only request apps you will use.
If there's something new that looks 'cool' and you want to try it out, make sure it's something that you will actually use on a regular basis.

3 - No old, dead projects please.
A lot of projects out there are broken or unfinished, and don't have updates for a long time. Please don't request for those...
The exception is when the software has a stable release out, even if it's a bit old.

Please send your requests to https://github.com/KXStudio/Repository/issues
Do not post requests in the forum please.

Impro-visor
Nootka (maybe when it is fixed to stop requiring Pulse or help the dev do that)

ah, I forgot about impro-visor.

Anyway, I updated giada, radium and reaper already.
Also the vamp-plugins, but sonic-visualizer still wants something else...

Yep, I noticed that too.
I'll probably include it in the next default install too. :D

Minaton and Newtonator! :D

Pretty please...! :D

(I've been asked to add them to amsynth.com, so I'd like to see how they perform, and get a few patches going even...)

Hey FalkTX, I'm guessing maybe this wasn't you since the version mentions precise 12.0.4.2 and not KXStudio: I got the Audacity 2.0.3 update just now! So as far as I know it is set. Thanks if you did it, but maybe the Raring stuff is getting backported because of the transition to 12.0.4.2?

Anyway, cheers!

I put it in testing for checking out later. Audacity is a big beast, so I want to make sure it works before pushing such update into the main repos.
What do you think of it so far? stable?

Ah. Everything in Audacity works great except for two bugs: 1. 64-bit use of sliding time/pitch scale effect is completely messed up (this is a bug I at least saw others on Audacity forum identifying and it was there before in v. 2.0.0 but just unfortunately not fixed yet; 2. black-text black-background for the variable speed playback slider (even though I'm using my grey theme, not the KXStudio theme). But these are just probably internal issues with Audacity. Anyway, I did other things and it all works great. The new Paulstretch effect is supreme!

ok, thanks for feedback.
I'll push it into the main PPA later today then, and try to do some more packages too.

Found this curious app for linux through vstplanet:

http://nootka.sourceforge.net/

I don't know how useful it might be, but interesting nonetheless..

Brian, this app looks to be absolutely superb. Unfortunately, it currently crashes if Pulse Audio isn't installed. The dev knows about it because I posted a bug report and he did reply to that. Anyway, I posted a message about Nootka in a different topic here and I already mentioned it in the first reply to the current thread here.

audacity and din are now updated to their latest release.
I added paulstretch to the repos too.

newtonator is already in the repos, was it updated recently and I missed it?
anyway, I'll be reviewing some more packages today and post results.
