This is gonna be awesome. Curious, does the iso use the latest development version of Hydrogen? (Hoping I can use it to export songs with tempo changes.)

Heya

Tried the live session (not enough RAM) and ...

I'm impressed. Jack via Cadence tools suite works like charm with internal & USB audio interface. All smooth at 44.1/64/2
Played a bit with hydrogen, Qtractor and a few FX plugs. All good so far.

Setting up dual head was a breeze and the overall theme looks nice to me.
This definitely made me make the switch from Untiy to the full KXstudio KDE4 desktop on my day to day install

In the process of tweaking things.

One thing, when shuting dow from the live session, DVD got ejected (laptop computer) before the end of the process, so I needed to electrically shut the computer down

Thanks for this work, Falk !! :)
Think, it ain't illegal yet
And use Qrest, it won't hurt : http://www.qrest.org

I have Echo Gina 3g, which is a PCI card and an external box that connects to it. Echomixer is provided by alsa-tools-gui.

Install alsa-tools-gui, open KDE Kickoff menu, type "Echo" (no quotes) and you should see "Echomixer."

I'm referring to ffado-mixer, hdsp mixer, etc.
(maybe I should create a new topic for this?)
I think maybe it would be good to create a topic; I missed this question, and I'm just lucky that Grayson gave the answer for me :)
I don't have any fancy interface, so I don't know...
What :( that's just not fair. Maybe a belated xmas present is in order heheh

Hi! (my first post)
running the iso now from a liveUSB made with unetbootin.. seems to run fine! also got my saffireLE working through FFADO by setting cadence driver to firewire.
Speaking of the hardware i would like the ffado-mixer in it ofcourse 8)
Awesome! :D only pulseaudio seems not to be running according to cadence.. but all audio seems to be working so its not like i'm missing something :P

i need to reinstall my system with this ..or should i wait for the final iso?

cheers!

If I could shave off 30+ seconds of rendering time in Blender for for multiple frames of animation and encode in webm/ogg format, I'm all for 64-bit.

on the liveISO the FFADO driver worked right out of the box.. but after a full install i get:

Code: Select all

cadence-session-start -s

so jack won't start now with my saffireLE :(

YES! that was it. :D
maybe set the user to audio/video group with the kxstudio-welcome program?
that could be a way to set things right.
now i'm gonna set my FL Studio up in Wine
thrilling that these things work!

speaking of FL Chan.. and you adding Miku on the wallpaper, maybe KXStudio could do with some Moe anthropomorphism too
i can draw too so i'll give it a shot, but prolly less good then someone who is used to do allot such things

Today in my KXStudio install, the software updater is set to install a bunch of new Ubuntu packages. Is this right?
It's installing antiword, debian-faq, dpkg-www, gnome-user-guide, gparted, synaptic, yelp, and a bunch of others.
These seem all gtk related. I have Muon stuff and other KDE/qt tools. Why do I need gparted? Why are these things showing up to be installed in the update list?

I just wanted to check that this wasn't anything weird before applying these updates.
I've been reasonably happy with Muon. I don't remember what my complaints were. Haven't used synaptic in a while, so I don't remember what I'm missing.

is kxstudio-apply-root something users do anything about, or just something you handle?

Would it apply to me, given that I started with the straight KXStudio (obviously using the KXStudio theme) and then I adapted and changed things to the point of using Oxygen and other themes and colors and whatnot? Or does this new script only apply when KXStudio repos are added to existing GNU/Linux installations?
