Claudia with firewire and midi keyboard

Post by Xzu Rukneg »

Claudia is a nice application!
Clear, easy to use, especially if you have all lot of in/out on your device.
In short, very useful for the saffire pro 40.

But I have two problems:

1/ I can't see my midi keyboard, a M-audio Axiom 49, linked by usb.
Even when I use aj2midid (I don't found the app, so I type "a2j" command), I only see "midi trought".
I was used to see it in ladish with "a2j".

It's real problem cause I don't see how to connect my midi controller to any app (but maybe, I've don't understand something).

2/Ladish crash after closing any studio.
But it's a problem with jackd and firewire, that don't exit "properly" (for this device especially).
For example if you use Qjackctl, you have to click three times on 'stop' to really stop, or to type "killall-9 jackd" in the shutdown command.

That make me think, is this possible to add something like "killall -9 jackd" to the command line when claudia stop a studio??
How to do that?

And it's the same problem for cadence, but I don't know how to kill it with a command line, I use xfce4-taskmanager.

But for claudia and for now, after some second, a black window appears, saying "execution halted".
So I use:

Code: Select all

sudo killall -9 a2jmidid ; killall -9 ladishd ; killall -9 ladiconfd ; killall -9 jmcore ; killall -9 jackd ; killall -9 jackdbus

I don't know how to do this in Claudia but you need the "-e" flag to expose alsa MIDI hardware ports to jack MIDI. Like this:

a2jmidid -e

or

a2j -e

(I don't quite understand the difference between a2j and a2jmidid)

Oh, you're right! I miss the -e flag.

With the time I reduces my commands (like /usr/bin/ardour2 to ardour2).
Now I know what is this flag about! Thank you Pablo.

So half solved!

(I guess that will be more hard for the second one).

Thanks falkTX.

I'll tell here I some thing change with the "stop issue" with the saffire interface.
