Java-based tool for Roland GAIA tweakable for GNU/Linux?

Post by jjonas »

Hi,

There's a guy who's written a tool for Roland GAIA SH-01 in Java, so first of all, here's a link to the program (the source code of which is also available):
http://www.grauw.nl/projects/gaia-tool/

And a description on what it does:

The project seems to have been started only in the beginning of December, but it already has a feature for editing the synth's arpeggio patterns which cannot be edited via the normal user interface. Probably that possibility is reserved for Roland's non-free software (sold separately).

The thing is: he's only testing in Windows, so I decided not to bother him with GNU/Linux stuff (at least not yet). As I've managed to get the GAIA working with Rosegarden/JACK (through a USB-MIDI cable) and as the lsusb output lists the synth connected through the USB cable as well, I thought it MIGHT be just a small thing to correct.

I've understood that the program is GAIA specific, so maybe it's not so useful for most people to fiddle around with the source code for such a limited purpose. But I thought I could try if anyone else might benefit from this program running also on GNU/Linux.
