Hello all,

The Libre Music Challenge wants you to continue have fun exploring new plugins.

The Libre Music Challenge is an event that originated in the chat server run by producer/musician/youtuber Unfa.
In this challenge we use only free audio software and some general rules apply (check viewtopic.php?p=120524#p120524)

Fancy GUIS are bloat

So in this month challenge we're gonna make music using Libre softwares (whatever daw / source (sample/synth) you want, BUT only FX allowed must come from AIRWINDOWS collection.

All music must be made using only FLOSS/Libre audio software .
ONLY Fx allowed must come from airwindows's collection
ANY audio source is allowed this month.

For our Lmms Friends that can't use Linux VST, you will use the windows versions that must work fine under wine in the lmms mixer.

Well, that's it. Good luck and I look forward to hearing your submissions and reading about how you did it.

Submit before midnight (24:00) 05-29-2021 (29th May GMT)

You can submit tracks by posting links to your work in this thread. Make sure the audio is downloadable and mp3 or ogg (cause the FLAC is too long to upload :( ) as all tracks will be posted on archive.org. (link will follow)

Good luck and if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask.

tl;dr
Make a track using any free DAW with any sound source(free of course  )
But only AIRWINDOWS Fxs are allowed
Links just at the end of this post

Submit before midnight (0:00) 05-29-2021 (25th May at 12:00pm GMT)

PLUGINS CAN BE FOUND THERE :

I hope our eminence @LAM doctor es "Chris" will suggest us the best of this huge collection (more than 200 ! )

I can suggest some plugins to try:
  • Dubcenter (for mono basses)
  • DubSub (for stereo basses)
  • BassKit (centered bass reinforcer)
  • Starchild (granular effect)
  • TripleSpread (pitchshifting chorus effect)
  • GlitchShifter (pitchshifting crazyness)
  • AutoPan (organic autopanner)
  • Galactic (SPACE Reverb)
  • Verbity (Reverb)
  • MatrixVerb (Reverb)
  • TapeDelay (Delay)
  • Srsly2 (WIDE stereo widener)
  • Beam (you already know ...)
  • CStrip (channel strip with EQ and compression)
More suggestions incoming ...

In the zip file containing the plugins there is a what.txt file with a brief description of each plugin.
On the Airwindows site there are also more detailed descriptions and for many plugins usually there are nice video demos by Chris.

Great challenge! I always was confused by the sheer quantity of the airwindows plugins, so looked for an overview and found this:

Have fun everybody!

Using ToTape5/6 should be forbidden because it makes everything sound better and it's basically cheating :P

Here's another bunch of lesser known ones to try:
  • ADT is a double short delay tap with saturation.
  • Atmosphere is Console5 processing with powerful new acoustic distance effects.
  • BitShiftGain is the ‘One Weird Trick’ perfect boost/pad, but in 6db increments ONLY.
  • BrightAmbience2 is more BrightAmbience with better tone and more slapbacky effects.
  • ChorusEnsemble is a more complex, multi-tap mono chorus.
  • CrunchyGrooveWear is a version of GrooveWear for more edge and distortion.
  • Distance2 is a versatile space shaper for creating depth.
  • Distortion is a slightly dark analog-style distortion with several presets, like Focus.
  • Ensemble is a weird flangey little modulation effect.
  • Facet is a new kind of hard clip that adds two sharp corners into the wave.
  • FathomFive is a way of supplementing extreme bass that’s not just EQ.
  • Fracture is a frequency multiplier/waveshaper with a soft disruption to the sound.
  • Gringer is a full-wave rectifier plugin, like a Green Ringer guitar effect.
  • Holt is a synth-like resonant lowpass filter focussed on bass frequencies.
  • Loud is distortion and demolition of air molecules, modeled.
  • Melt is a wobbly chorusy weird diffuse effect.
  • MV is a dual-mono reverb based on BitShiftGain and the old Midiverbs.
  • NC-17 is Dirty Loud!
  • NonlinearSpace is a flexible reverb plugin.
  • PhaseNudge is a phase rotator/allpass filter.
  • PocketVerbs is my popular old special effects reverbs plugin!
  • Point is an explosive transient designer.
  • Slew3 is a new approach to slew clipping meant for a more analog-like darkening effect.

A little update:
  • HardVacuum for distortion (thanks to @robbert-vdh )
  • Chris released MackEQ yesterday (EQ inspired by the Mackie 1202, have a look also at the Mackity plugin, input stage), so time to download the zip again.

HardVacuum is such an underrated distortion plugin! It's your typical soft clipper without that aura control, but that aura somehow makes everything nice and bright in a very unique and pleasing way. (and yes, after reading through the source code I still won't understand why it works the way it does)

Should we disable any internal synth FXs?

For instance ZynAddSubFX has FXs on most presets.

About internal fx.

If you run 16 x surge with all kinda of built-in fx and only put ToTape5 on master, you are free to do so. You are also totally missing the point of the LMC

Hi,

I'm intrigued about doing this challenge and I have a new tune recorded but I'm running into some deficiencies, are we allowed to ask questions or seek AW advice here?
