So I guess the voting is open?

Code: Select all

TITLE ARTIST SCORE

Calm and Sleepy | MyLoFy | 3
For the Lullsaby | Vulnr | 3
Infinite Lullaby | Unfa | 3
Lullaby | Erk | 2
Lullaby for Good Sleep | A-Lin | 5
Music Box | Senbee | 3
Ramshackle Lullaby | Pulsing Bulb | X
Sweet Dreams | Avery | 2

Fais Dodo Louise |Lèyon di li Neûris′| 2
Lydian Lullaby | Draco | 4
Please copy this template, put it in a "code" block so that it lines up, and add your scores out of 5 (if you made an entry yourself, don't give it a score). I believe voting is open to all.

I gave scores based on a mixture of how much I liked the track, how good a lullaby I thought it made, and how well it dealt with the technical constraints.

Without naming names, there were some that I liked, but I thought would scare the children, and some that were kind of boring, but that made them better as sleep aids. As a parent, I know that six hours of pink noise would be an absolute winner in the baby-calming stakes, but I'm glad nobody submitted a track like that.

Two misspellings (but one due to what's written in archive.org). Copy-paste is your friend  (and yeah, I know “′” if far away from ASCII characters — much further away then French accentuated characters — that's certainly why it is not used in archive.org that needed URI compatible characters, but it's the official one to be used in that case with the Feller walloon orthography — that is to tell that the final letter must be pronounced as this orthography tolerate much of the non-sense silent letters from French).

I really had a hard time to know how to give and remove points in a way that seams logical to me and that reflect my global impression, the result is that I sometime have been certainly a bit too severe, but if I didn't the logic would have contradict my global impression, so, here are my votes:

Code: Select all

| Artist | Title | Score (n/5) |
|_____________________|_________________________|_____________|
| MyLoFy | Calm and Sleepy | 3.0 |
| Vulnr | For the Lullsaby | 2.5 |
| Unfa | Infinite Lullaby | 3.5 |
| Erk | Lullaby | 1.0 |
| A-Lin | Lullaby for Good Sleep | 1.0 |
| Senbee | Music Box | 2.0 |
| Pulsing Bulb | Ramshackle Lullaby | 1.5 |
| Avery | Sweet Dreams | 4.0 |
| Fusterclucker | The Torchbearer Lullaby | 3.0 |
| Lèyon di li Neûris′ | Fais Dodo Louise | - |

Removing the word “technical”, I've done the same (without being influenced by that comment from you) plus I removed less of points for technical problems.

I think the same.

In my pointing system, being boring in my very subjective point of view (I mean on that topic specificaly, I'm more subjective then usual) cost points even though it helps baby to sleep.

I would not be able to sleep with pink noise in the room next door, so, I would never use that trick even if it works very well (sadly for me, I have no children, one of the biggest mistake in my life :().

I did a similar way of casting points as y6nH. I didn't think any of them were bad, just some more appropriate to the challenge.

I've corrected "Lèyon di li Neûris′" in my voting post. Sorry, as you guessed, I copied from Archive.org rather than here. Thanks for explaining a bit about the orthography.

Thank you.
But Largos copy / pasted it first (can you please correct Largos?).

Lullaby for Good Sleep | A-Lin | -1
Music Box | Senbee | 5
Ramshackle Lullaby | Pulsing Bulb | 1
Sweet Dreams | Avery | 3
Torchbearer (Lullaby) | Fusterclucker | 4
Fais Dodo Louise |Lèyon di li Neûris′| 2
Lydian Lullaby | Draco | 2
And here's my (honest and perhaps raw) comments:

Code: Select all

TITLE ARTIST COMMENT

Calm and Sleepy | MyLoFy | Pros: Beautify. Nice warm pads
                       | | Neutral: Between Kitaro and Jeroen Tel :-)
                       | | Cons: Simplistic chords and melody, albeit perfect for a lullaby ;-)

For the Lullsaby | Vulnr | Pros: Special, powerful atmosphere
                       | | Cons: Maybe too dissonant for a lullaby (though I personally like it)

Infinite Lullaby | Unfa | Pros: Very peaceful, more of these please

Lullaby | Erk | Pros: Interesting, will surely capture the imagination of the little one
                       | | Cons: Maybe too out of tune, but probably intended, I like it just as it is personally

Lullaby for Good Sleep | A-Lin | Pros: Comes from the heart
                       | | Cons: Learn how to play the piano, man

Music Box | Senbee | Pros: Absolutely beautiful. Superb singing and counterpoint melodies.

Ramshackle Lullaby | Pulsing Bulb | Pros: Interesting counterpoint melodies and atmospheres
                       | | Cons: Too incoherent. The lengths of the notes are also incoherent, like one ends while the other is playing and such

Sweet Dreams | Avery | Pros: Nice, perfect for a lullaby
                       | | Cons: Too simplistic for an experienced listener (but I fully get that wasn't the point)

Torchbearer (Lullaby) | Fusterclucker | Pros: Very interesting harmonies, beautiful voice
                       | | Cons: Lots of dissonances, which I personally don't mind, I take them as intended.

Fais Dodo Louise |Lèyon di li Neûris′| Pros: Kinda funny, will be interesting for the little one
                       | | Cons: Under developed

Lydian Lullaby | Draco | Pros: Interesting atmosphere
                       | | Cons: Maybe too many undesirable tremolos produced by overlapping notes, not a big deal just mentioning
