That is pretty huge, as drum kit. Have you considered that you could make soundfont (sf2 or sfz) from it?

No, I didn't. Even didn't know this would be possible.
Here's the real drum kit I made the samples from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrI6POGJmwQ

How to do a sound-font from these samples?

Polyphone is software which can create sf2 and latest versions sfz also? And sfz is text, so you can create them with text editor or script also.

Thanks for the info.
Found Polyphone 64bit binary. After installing it plus two missing libs it works.
Though, my first attempt wasn't successful.

Used .flac (that's how the samples are stored) instead of .wav. So, no sound.

I'll give it a shot again after converting all the samples to .wav.
So, there's a good chance of getting my Hdrogen drum kit into .sf2 - will check .sfz after this.

Again thanks.

If you don't have round-robin samples or something else extra, you will be fine with sf2. For sf2, there is more suitable plugins, sfz support has been bit problematic, but it is getting better.

This is a huge task for real.
Now working around four hours to create that .sf2 sound-font.
Only 25 instruments added so far.
But there's still a lot to setup on these 25 instruments.
This might take days or weeks until finished to a usable result.

Now continuing...

A few hours later all instruments are applied to the sound-font.
Currently 78 instruments as I added the Mini-Timbales which aren't included into the Hydrogen drum kit.
Now need to setup the instruments on sustain (cymbals etc.), panorama, reverb etc.pp.
Looks good so far - at least for my first sound-font created.

YES, I'm going to share it when ready!

I'm already thinking of to create some more sound-fonts from my Yamaha SY22 and TG55 Synthesizers.
They have some great sounds that might be cool to have them included into a sound-font.
Especially my own creations.

We'll see...

Thanks for pointing me to the Polyphone program! :)

Damn!

I need to do that whole task again.

After trying to use this created sound-font within this song: https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=21061 it came out being too low leveled on the gain of the samples. So, I had again a look at them and found them not being normalized. Almost all samples could have a plus of around +4db. Trying to replace the samples within the sound-font destroys all settings made for the keys and the tuning dependent on that keys on the keyboard.

Learning curve again.

In that sense, sfz is nicer, because sample files are just files, so you can do what ever you like with them as long as names remain same.

There is also tool for handling sf2 files with script: https://github.com/freepats/old-tools/t ... ter/pysf-2

With that you could possibly take your old sf2, convert it to xml, then modify sample files, and run to other direction, from xml to create sf2?
Haven't used that tool ever, so can't say if it works really. Just found it when I was thinking 'is there tool for making sf2 with script'.

Ok.

So, now I understand why Linux Sampler is called Linux Sampler. I was always wondering about that as to me it looked/tasted like a synthesizer. It's because of the samples used within the .sf2 files.

Meanwhile I finished the .sf2 file of the Hydrogen drum kit and created 46 .sf2 files of those sounds recorded from my SY22 and TG55 Synthesizers. This has been a lot of work and there's actually at least 38 recorded different sounds still needed to be transformed into a .sf2 file. Also there's around 48 sounds not yet recorded from those two synthesizers. Probably I don't want to have them all. Need to check them first.

Now I would need a good place/solution to upload the .sf2 drum kit. May I try to upload this to the storage of Polyphone?

No, this doesn't work. Free account has limited file size of 20 MB. The .sf2 file is at 22 MB.

Google drive is free of charge, but some people have ideological problems with it.
