Allright, managed to wrap it up, so here goes nothing.
It was a great experience, that tought me a lot, so huge thank you @Sahaathyva
The sound is somewhat minimal, and I wanted to make the track as a soundtrack of sorts
Here's track: https://soundcloud.com/lokkimusic/challengelmc7

Re: Libre Music Challenge #7 : Yet Another Kick !
I'm a tad bit late, uploading something right now! So hopefully I can still join in.
This was a great challenge, Kickmess is a simple little thing but quite ingenious to get nice sounds out of it. So I hooked up my sequencer and a MIDI keyboard and did my best to create something nice. Turned out a bit Postal Service meets Album Leaf with a tinge of The Cure (Disintegration style). Everything is Kickmess except for the vocals (so hopefully I'm still entitled for the 1.33 multiplier bonus). Had to quickly sample my own voice otherwise I couldn't work on the song after the kids went to bed so the timing of the vocals is a bit odd, had to cut the samples into pieces quickly.
This experience was particularly nice because it's been a while since I did a song like this with FOSS tools. Things have changed a LOT in the past few years, and definitely for the better. Love the LSP suite and the Dragonfly reverb is a keeper. Sequenced everything live with a hardware sequencer into Ardour, also played the little solo live. Some plugins I used:
Translated lyrics:
This City
Softly I walk through the black snow
The taste of iron in my mouth
My eyes sting, I won't rub
And all that anger spins around faster and faster
This city is not venerated
This city goes unnoticed
This city is mostly avoided
But don't tell me I deserve better
Some explanation:
The city I live in is generally considered as being ugly and unhealthy to live in because there's a big steel mill in the close vicinity. But I love living here because of this underdog position. And yeah, we really had black snow last week.
All material CC BY-SA.

- Kickmess of course
- ACE compressor
- Dragonfly Reverbs
- x42 MIDI plugins
- LSP sampler
- LSP gate
- LSP multiband compressor on the master bus
- Shiroverb for the solo

Re: Libre Music Challenge #7 : Yet Another Kick !
Heyo everyone! Here's my very very last minute submission.
https://soundcloud.com/nyxeles/morning-in-the-village
Made in Ardour, and all sound were created from the Kickmess plugin.
I struggled to find sounds at first but I'm quite happy with the end result! I got a chance to explore the guitarix suite, and it was very fun.
--- Edit below, with some more info about the track.
There are 18 instances of Kickmess.
Other plugins used:
Guitarix
Calf Filter, Compressor, Limiter
Calf Exciter, Flanger, Multi Chorus, Stereo Tools
MDA Detune
AM Pitchshifter
LSP Gate
TAL Filter II
TAL Reverb III
TAP Autopanner
EQ10Q
Overall I'm quite happy with the final track.
I got somewhat stuck on mixing at the end (as I always do), and some last minute struggle reviewing the kickdrum sound which I wasn't happy with and getting rid of some excessive chorus/flanging that I only noticed was bad when I listened on a speaker and not headphones. Mixing is hard!
If I had had the chance I would have spent some extra time on making drum patterns more interesting and varied, and adding more shape to the synth sounds with automation.
I'm also sharing my Ardour 6.5 session (CC BY-SA) if any of you is interested. You can download it here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1D3nltT ... sp=sharing
The track should be downloadable from Soundcloud, but here's the file just in case: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mqY7i_ ... sp=sharing

There is a bug with Largos and Nyxeles tracks that are ogv and so considered to be video ogg , archive don't play them , so please listn to them here ( i have the original files, will see if i can convert, but i fear i won't be able to add them to the existing page ) :

I don't know whatwe should do with Vulnr 's track, he stated it to be unfinished so to be showcased but not voted, i let you decide, tell me.
And if someone have enough will to prepare the ascii voting sheet, you are welcome sir

I uploaded a mp3 version if that helps. I don't know why it says that about being ogv.
Re: Libre Music Challenge #7 : Yet Another Kick !
Not sure why it shows up as ogv! Anyway I noticed that the "ogv" tracks are still playable from the archive page under the "Download Options -> Ogg Video" menu. Apologies for the inconvenience!
Looking forward to giving all tracks a good listen :)

I managed to change this behavior : just renamed ogv in ogg
Good luck all, and remember to vote before saturday
