Linux Mint

Linux Mint 6 is released today. It;s a distro based on Ubuntu, but with the codecs already installed, with a newbie friendly software portal, another Menu etc.

Is somebody on this forum board using Linux Mint?

Yes I tried it and must say it is a very user friendly Linux distro. 100% compatible with Ubuntu and Ubuntu Studio! :)

I'm now downloading the newest release...

I really like the mint menu, but it lacks a submenu possibility:

If you want please vote for it:

I am writing this from Mint Live cd session on the Desktop. It also runs smooth on my 3620 Acer laptop(1gb ram) from usb stick. I have inherited that laptop with dead hard drive. So I took it out and loaded Mint ,using Unetboot on 1 gb partition of cheap 2gb usb stick. Great distro :D
