ReValver MKIII Native Linux Possiblity

What other apps and distros do you use to round out your studio?

ReValver MKIII Native Linux Possiblity

Post by cb951303 »

quote from ubuntuforums.com
hi everyone,

I currently purchased ReValver MKIII. For people who doesn't know what this is, its a modeling and effect processing software for PC. Basically you connect your guitar to your PC and start playing. It simulates amps, cabinets and effects etc... I tried GT3, AT2 and GTR3 and so far for me ReValver sounds the most realistic among all of them (especially the cabinet simulator)

The thing is, ReValver already has a MacOS version and it relies on wxWidgets 2.6.3 for GUI, so it's really possible to make it run on Linux with minimum effort.

If anyone is interested to see this software on Linux please send a request to Peavey from here: http://www.alienconnections.com/support_enter.htm

Thanks

PS: They already replied me so I'm sure they control their mails daily :)
Hi,
I have forwarded your comment to the project manager, but I can make no promises.

Thanks,

Hi, welcome at this forum! :)

Almost always good if companies makes there software also available for linux. I think I would rather invest in some hardware effect processors... Do you just use it to play guitar with?

Did you check rakarrack on linux and:

I use it to play and record but mostly play. Hardware is good too but there is virtually no difference between a hardware and software(!) digital modeling. So for now, no need to invest 300-400$ to a Line6 POD :)

I tried CAPS, rackarack, creox etc. With all due respect to the creators of these great softwares they are not even close to Amplitube, Guitar Rig or Revalver

Even though I don't know the opinion of Revalver developers I'm really optimistic about its linux situation. Considering that it uses wxWidgets and can be compiled for macos, a native VST version of revalver for linux may be just a compilation time away...

thanks

Ok, ReValver you can download illegal for free I guess, but new it is: $299.99 or in Europa around 250 euros, and if you want to upgrade: $199.99 USD

Couldn't you buy hardware for that price?

.. the linux stuff is 'free as beer'

cb951303, I know what you mean. I've tried all the others like CAPS, etc. and they are great especially for bluesy or Rolling Stones kinda stuff but no, not close to Amplitube, etc.
I've read where guys have ReValver running on Linux via wine. I had Amplitube and GuitarRig running on Linux a year ago but I don't use them anymore. I been looking for native Linux software.
Right now, I use an old Peavey 10watt Rage amp, run the preamp out to my PC and into jconv which loads IR files of amp/cab. Same way ReValver or Amplitube uses IR file to model the amp/cab sounds.
