Can it be done?
And if it can, how?

Re: AVL MXE Linux -changing/installing themes?
Well I went back to page 100, which i had looked at before but I could find no clear explanation of how to actually use and/or install a theme other than those in the distro?
I have found some that are compatible with Debian and have extracted them to a themes folder but I cannot find how to actually access them.
It's why I asked the question here...the manual does not have clear instructions (well for me at any rate) to do this. And i am guessing that applying stuff like this incorrectly can "brick" things pretty quickly! If one is unsure one should ask, and in asking is hopeful for more than glib one-line answers like rtm!
Sometimes comprehending the syntax in a new system environment can be confusing, especially in a system like linux where the slightest error can jam it all up, and with no experience to trouble-shoot (as I do have with windows) it's probably a full re-install.
And when you live in opposite time zones and with very little support in the local "working" hours, usually it is quite some time for answers, so you are sitting around twiddling thumbs waiting! Hence a further requirement to clarify information not well perceived!

Re: AVL MXE Linux -changing/installing themes?
I suppose AVLinux is using Xfce, so installing Xfce and GTK themes in ~/.themes folder should work.
The manual is very clear on how to change themes and is consistent with every other Xfce DE distro out there.
If you are not familiar with these aspects I suggest you to take some time to familiarize with the Xfce desktop enivironment.
