Is there a way to route individual audio channels in qjackctl patchbay?

What other apps and distros do you use to round out your studio?

Is there a way to route individual audio channels in qjackctl patchbay?

Post by Gooberpatrol66 »

So I have an EQ and a sine wave generator running in Carla in the patchbay. The sine has mono output and the EQ has stereo input. How can I route the mono output to both input channels? The GUI only has per-application plugs, not per-channel ones.

You should be able to expand the application and see the individual channels in qjackctl; see this example screenshot: https://i.stack.imgur.com/OGfOq.png

This is the patchbay, not the connections window.

Ah, my bad. I never used the patchbay before, and I don't have an access to my Linux computer right now.

Have you seen this guide? http://www.rncbc.org/drupal/node/76 It shows how to make the connections between channels in the patchbay.

in qjackctl patchbay you can create a mono input connection for the sine wave generator and 2 mono outputs for left and right

for carla/patchage/qjackctl connections etc you can manually connect mono to left and right, or use 2 jack_connect commands in terminal

Hard wiring mono to stereo can amplify original audio signal by 6dB. This would be ok for a sine wave generator if source level can be reduced, but not for other audio.

There are DSP plugins to convert mono to stereo without amplification - swh plugins mono splitter, calf mono input
