List of commcercial software ported to Linux
Even though there's always good FLOSS audio software getting too little praise, I'd find it useful to have of list of commercial audio software that's actually ported to Linux.
Maybe such a list exists, I just don't know of it.
So please help me, as I can only think of these few ones:
- The u-he (http://u-he.com) plugins, which are synths, compressor, effects ++. These are the only commercial software I use myself, and I find them really powerful, they also sound amazing. Great plugins to mix with the FLOSS bundle.
The Linux builds are found here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 818237addd
- Harrison Mixbus (http://harrisonconsoles.com), a DAW (or actually 2 different DAWs, as I understand) with an analogue feel, and focus on mixing and mastering.
- BitWig (https://www.bitwig.com), a modern day DAW, seemingly with lots of features.
So which else are there?

Re: List of commcercial software ported to Linux
Great!
(a bit embarrased that I forgot Renoise and Reaper)
Is this http://linux-sound.org/linux-vst-plugins.html actually the list that I'm searching for - is everything there commercial Linux software?
I see it's purely VSTs, but I guess apart from Bitwig, Renoise, Reaper, Tracktion and Mixbus that's probably what we're talking about anyway.
If so, I should change my question to which commercial software do you find worth buying, which commercial software gives you something you don't get in the FLOSS world (or gives you something better)?
For me the answer would be Presswerk and a some other u-he plugins, as I find their sound astounding.
But then again, I haven't tried for instance the stuff from Loomer or OverToneDSP (which actually seem great, when I look at it).
What have you people purchased and felt it was worth it?

Pianoteq is a very good tip.ufug wrote:PianoTeq is one not to be missed.
Harrison also has some excellent plugins in addition to Mixbus.
The next time I need good piano sound, I will definitely consider it.
Which of the Harrison plugins do you use, and what makes them better than the FLOSS ones?

Sounds like a pathetic intro, please spare it, if you don't mind.thebutant wrote:Even though there's always good FLOSS audio software getting too little praise,
Go for what ever you like, but, your lossless kindness hopeless never-minds sorry isn't welcome.
Just ask what you wane know, and spare your pathetic, PLEASE!
By the way, there is a special forum part for this kind of discussions, so, your intro is more then doubtable.

This isn't discussing buying or selling, so I don't think it really belongs in the "marketplace" forum. It isn't advocating any particular proprietary program, nor specifying things that can't be used alongside open source software. I think its perfectly appropriate and he wasn't trying to be insulting of our open projects. Please don't be so harsh on people just talking or asking questions! Don't take it personal and just ignore this thread if it really bothers you.tramp wrote:Sounds like a pathetic intro, please spare it, if you don't mind.

Re: List of commcercial software ported to Linux
No. Many items there are FLOSS. It is a list of VST/VSTi plugins that are compiled - or that will compile - as native Linux shared objects, i.e. foo.so.thebutant wrote: Is this http://linux-sound.org/linux-vst-plugins.html actually the list that I'm searching for - is everything there commercial Linux software?
I do try to keep the list fairly complete, please advise if there's something missing.
Best,
