Does anyone know of either a technique to use which might accomplish this or a plugin which works for Linux?

Something like this is what I'm looking for...

(my Google-fu is bad today...)

In Ardour you can copy audio to a new track, then under the right click options when you click the clip, you can transpose either by octaves or semitones for harmonies or a small amount ('cents') for doubling.

You can either slightly move the audio clip or use any number of delay plug ins for further separation. The CMT LADSPA plugins have a number of delay lines, I use the one with a maximum delay of 1 second.

Hope this helps
Guy

That would work, but it would be a lot of work... I was hoping that there was a plugin in which you could sit and tweak a lot of parameters until you got it right... Oh well.

I would use overdubbing even if there was a good plugin. For my ears no plugin will sound all natural

Sure, you are right. It was more or less a toy. Or maybe if you put the "choir" very in the background, you wouldn't notice the difference.
