Last version: MuseScore 2.1. runs just fine as AppImage under Debian 8.3

Post by tyder »

I'm new here, and just want to note that my downloaded file MuseScore-2.1-x86_64.AppImage seems to run just fine under Debian 8.3 (Live version with persistent store). A very much better alternative than MuseScore 1.3, which is offered by the package system. Also no problems with printing and playing the notes - only tried 3 simultaneous instruments so far.

I run MuseScore with jack, the app image spawns it's own jack it seems making that unusable with other jack apps I'm running. :?

WTF. MuseScore website doesn't have a simple install link for anything besides AppImage.

"Community Packages" points you to this PPA: https://launchpad.net/~mscore-ubuntu/+a ... ore-stable
but it's not up to date, it's 2.0.3 (a year old).

If you're using an Ubuntu 16.04 distro or KXStudio repositories, they provide MuseScore 2.0.2. I would just use that if it's good enough for your purposes.
