I'm working on transcription for my guitar lessons and am having a difficult learning curve with rhythmic notation. I'm using Guitar Tracks Pro for notation (I also have MuseScore). Is there a practical means of using a midi controller (either a USB/Midi Keyboard or Guitar/pitch to midi ) to enter notes in real time with a click tack so that I can visually see something scored based on what I've played? I'm open to using other software to capture this.

* I have a Roland GI-20 interface and a Guitar with a Roland GK-2 pickup built in.
* I'm running Linux Mint 17.1
