The parts I find useful of audacity are the pencil waveform editing, I think that's the best feature and the batch processing is a good feature. Otherwise, I don't see have a use for it. FX is handled better in any DAW where you can edit them with decent preview, that just doesn't seem to exist in the available FOSS audio editors. Audacity's preview is meh. I can use a file in non-timeline into carla, do FX editing as it plays and then use the Render in Catia to export it.

Lol, I last looked at that branch a month ago, before the latest changes (when it was still a year since last activity), and didn't bother to check again. Thanks

and Audacity is back in the news
https://fosspost.org/audacity-is-now-a-spyware/
I also noticed they released their own AppImage
https://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/20 ... ary-linux/
I like using AppImages but that's one I'll pass on

I wonder who is behind this shitstorm title, someone "FOSS Post Team"? And the "about us" is not a link or any.

The topic has been slashdotted, too:

Looks like a response to a PCmag story (a synopsis of the others).

Once you have lost trust, it is very difficult to restore it.
Also on the musescore front, most comments are exactly what my first thought was. If they are handling copyright material what on earth were they thinking by not securing it?
Before attacking a relatively vulnerable person they seriously need to get their own house in order.
Oh and if you get the idea i don't trust them much you're wrong...
There is a bad smell to all of this. I don't trust them at all!

I liked the last line in the MuseScore article:
Muse Group's next acquisition should probably be a public relations firm instead of a software project.
Haha! So true!

I read somewhere there's some Audacity forks in work/progress.
Is there anything forked available already for testings?
