I would add that we've got a better chance of being able to fix our problems!

This is a huge deal for me: we've got plenty of abandoned projects, but anything can revived given sufficient interest - regardless of corporate strategy bullshit.

Exactly. Windows and Mac mean depending on a corporation (and therefore a strategically-limited number of persons involved).

Linux means depending on, well.... you and I! ;)
