carla : how to bypass plugin via midi

Post by HarryR »

Hi everybody,

I'm slowly becoming a midi specialist :D

After having clarified midi basics, configuration seems to be demystified (for me).

So … carla and its rack is a very big and helping tool.

The ability to control parameters of a plugin via midi is an essential part
for a/my (keyboard) live environment.

What I can't find in any plugin (or carla itself) is to simply bypass a plugin
via midi.

Have I overseen something and if not is there a tricky way to configure a bypass ?

Best regards and stay healthy

I think you can achieve that in different ways:
Some plugins have a bypass control that you can control via midi
or
Some plugins have a dry/wet control that you can control via midi

In case the plugin has no such controls:
You can control the dry/wet in Carla via midi (MIDI CC 2). Source: Make it possible to quickly bypass a single plugin
or
Setup a mixer/crossfader plugin where you route the dry and wet signal and control the mixer/crossfader via midi

in mix, nobody can hear your screen

I think a mixer/crossfader plugin is the quick'n'dirty solution I would prefer now.
But: which plugin will do this. Couldn't find one, any suggestion ?

Best regards
