More and New Ardour error messages

Post by baconature »

Complications are seeming to grow.
This is a rather convoluted story having separate pieces of what I both did and or noticed.

I wrote a new thread on Feb 2nd about error messages in Ardour, ".viewtopic.php?f=27&t=24144" Well, now they have grown. After reading what GMaq wrote, (knowing that what I do, following any and all suggestions of others, as my own responsibility ie. GMaq has no responsibility what-so-ever) I then went to synaptic and used the "mark for removal" method of the following packages, although the end result proved as no effect to the situation in those error message. The packages I removed were:
ams-lv2
beatslash-lv2
invada-studio-plugins-lv2
caps-lv2
" " -data

carla-lv2
distrho-plugin-ports-lv2
dpf-plugins-lv2

klangfalter-lv2

A differing observation occurred after a system update, of Friday Jan 28. I noticed an error message stating that something relating to alsa connections had changed. I then had to fool with the system's (Ubuntu Studio 20.04) "PulseAudio Volume Control" setting, rather simple, yet I can't recall what I actually changed at that time, things seemed to work afterward. With that in mind, phase next.

Another hardware thing I should add, I use an external soundcard, Focusrite Scarlett 18i20. I have no idea as to the potential of this hardware device potentially contributing to the situation.

So after removing the above list of plugin packages. I shut off the computer for a while, rebooted, after a half hour or so, started ardour again, via the Claudia LADISH front end, to find new error messages in Ardour:

To save space and redundancy, I removed the following from the above two instances, replacing the text that is in a bright red font:
[ERROR]: JACK: Cannot callback the server in notification thread!
with the word "deleted," that were repeated 28 times, and 33 times respectively.

Now if I switch out to using QjackCtl rather than Claudia, I can retrieve further information which might provide a clue?
The following message shows up upon opening QjackCtl, yet before starting jack. In the "Messages / Status -- QjackCtl," when clicking the "messages," button.

When I start Ardour, I get a similar message as stated above.

I am thinking it may be time to do a re-install of Ardour, via the "Mark for Complete Removal," followed by a reinstall. I think this because of an understanding that using the "Mark for Removal" leaves the existing directories at least in places. I know little of how these functions actually work but have found this to be true with Mozilla Firefox in the least. That however was years ago, before it went into the "snap" folder in one's profile.

I truly don't know what to think of this situation other than it has now stopped my work. While the functionality of Ardour seems to potentially still work, I only know that transport will still occur, ie, I can still play and hear the audio contained in an .ardour file. However, at this point, I question that things associated with these messages could cause issues and a waste of effort in attempting to continue. I am truly too ignorant about this type of thing.

Maybe it would be best to leave it alone, and ignore these messages all together.
