Pulse, wanted output: speakers + headset

Post by D-Tuned »

AMD desktop + Suse Leap (& other distros)

Many complaints exist about UNWANTED simultaneous headset and speaker output but there are times when that's exactly what I want. On my desktop XONAR-STXII soundcard there are headset AND speaker outputs, I would expect the pulse audio control dialog to offer output choices like

Headset
Headset AND speaker
Speaker

but the middle one is nowhere to be seen.

I did the paprefs bit but all that pops up is a "PulseAudio Preferences" dialog in which the "Simultaneous Output" tab has a single already checked box labelled "Add virtual output device for simultaneous output on all local sound cards" and NOTHING else. That's NOT what I mean by 'simultaneous''.

I could just physically double (Y) either output but I wouldn't wanna damage my speakers OR headset.

Has anyone had the same need and a solution for it?
