Does anybody have a guide for routing plugins through Pulseaudio?

So now I basically only use LSP plugins (https://lsp-plug.in/) on my microphone input. Nothing else more sophisticated needed, I want to drop JACK.

From this answer: https://askubuntu.com/a/44012 I can see that pulseaudio at least has the capacity to load LADSPA plugins as modules. I'd like to read up better on the concepts that underpin this so I can understand better what I am doing, before I go a head and mess with trying to do this for myself.

So does anyone have a good resource for learning this?

Basically, no.
I followed that guide some time ago and got the SWH Compressor working as a Pulse module. Configuration must be done in text, afaik GUI is not supported.
I ended running JACK with Carla hosting a parametric EQ for room correction and I know of no easier way to run plugins like LSP system wide with GUI.

Or PulseEffects which has a range of plugin modules mostly based on Calf - https://github.com/wwmm/pulseeffects

Thanks man. The LSP website does mention LADSPA (which is the non GUI API I think you speak of) so I think LSP should be compatible.

I kind of avoided Calf, after experimenting just found the compressor to always be so obvious sounding, and the noise gate lacked some parameters I needed. I found the EQ to be quite phasey also. But I understand that there may be a big spoonful of placebo going on though.
