alsa, pulseaudio AND jack?

Post by phonky »

Hi

I got a new laptop from my employer. A nice powerful Thinkpad X1 Carbon.
I need to use it for work, so we do a lot of remote sessions, especially now with the pandemic. I need to be able to run google meet meetings flawlessly.

Which currently works out of the box with linux manjaro which I am running.

However, I wanted to install jack to play around with supercollider.

But I couldn't get jackd to start.
I have installed jack many times, and I usually just disable all pulseaudio stuff and then sooner or later I get it to work.

But I need to get this running alongside the standard linux audio stuff. Is this possible?
I tried many suggestions online but nothing worked so far.

I make sure I have pulseaudio-jack packages installed and tick the dbus box in the qjackctl settings. Does all the lifting for me.

I use this:

with plain jackd (no dbus)
On the road again.
