How much latency should be tolerated on a linux-based music studio PC? At what point does it become a problem?
What are your jack settings and their corresponding latency? How is it working for you?
How fast is fast enough?

Re: How fast is fast enough?
It depends on the usecases.
I'm happy with everything between 20-40ms as i don't record live and use primarily softsynths. But the "real musicians" need something lower than that i guess.
My settings are 1024 periods/2 buffer: reported qjackctl latency 46.4 msec.
I can go lower than that for sure (with my scrappy onboard Realtek ALC892), but i really need low latency when i use Mixxx (about 5-10msec, using ALSA directly), for now.
