Reaper crashes with ALSA and with Jack in Server Synchronous Mode

Post by lilith »

Hi,

I'm using a (pretty new) Roland Rubix 24 interface without issues with Jack in Debian 10 (with XFCE). However when I set Jack to "Server Synchronous Mode" or when using plain Alsa with default parameters Reaper is crashing occasional. When running Reaper from the terminal I get a simple and mysterious "Bus Error" message in the terminal when the crash occurs. When I check the journal I always see this message at the same time:

Code: Select all

Mai 21 21:52:42 marco kernel: traps: reaper[1653] trap stack segment ip:7efe283f4739 sp:7ffcd4b173a0 error:0 in libSwell.so[7efe283ce000+a7000]
First I thought that maybe the USB cable was too long, which should not be the case for 3 m long cables, but the crash also occurs when using the stock cable from Roland.

As written above it happens with Alsa and with Jack with "Server Synchronous Mode". When using the latter I also get these messages reported by Jack:

Code: Select all

Not sure, but I assume that the Alsa crash and this specific Jack crash is related. Did anybody see something like that? I maybe my hardware faulty?

I have never seen this when using Jack without "Server Synchronous Mode".

Any help would be great as I'm struggling with this for a while now.
