setting my audio workstation - need help, linux newbie

Post by Mk2 »

hello all !

in 2014~ i installed ubuntu studio 14-04 LTS + kx studio... and last week i relogged on my linux to update to 16-04 LTS.

here is my config :

ubuntu studio 16-04
Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 (firewire)
KX-studio
+
bitwig studio

-------

if i remember well, in 14-04 the firewire LED on my soundcard was light ON.

now it just does light OFF, it does not detect firewire...

i have read on FFADO that i need the SVN/trunk/ drivers as pro 24 saffire support is "experimental" to make it work.

->

so i dunno how to UNinstall KX-studio, i would like to remove all this & install manually FFADO SVN/trunk + mixer + jack audio.... dont need other softs.

but i dont remember how i installed kx-studio last last year, ive probably enter in a terminal : sudo apt get kx-studio .... and maybe before i added the repository (???)...

but so now i dunno how to remove KX studio entirely.... ("sudo apt remove kx-studio" ?)

i dont want to miss my system and reformat...

so can you help me ?

hello again,

i trying to compile ffado 2.30 and i got this :
dragonlord@dragonlord-ubuntu-studio:~/Téléchargements/libffado-2.3.0$ scons
scons: Reading SConscript files ...
Checking for a working C-compiler yes
Checking for a working C++-compiler yes
Checking for pkg-config (at least version 0.0.0)... yes
Checking for jack... no
Checking jackd version... 1.9.11
Installed Jack Audio Connection Kit (JACK) supports FFADO setbuffersize API
Checking for libraw1394 (2.0.5 or higher)... no
Checking for libconfig++ (0 or higher)... no
Checking for libxml++-2.6 (2.13.0 or higher)... no
Checking for libiec61883 (1.1.0 or higher)... no

(At least) One of the dependencies is missing. I can't go on without it, please
install the needed packages for each of the lines saying "no".
(Remember to also install the *-devel packages!)

And remember to remove the cache with "rm -Rf .sconsign.dblite cache" so the
results above get rechecked.
for libraw1394 i type this :
sudo apt-get install libraw1394
but it says package not found....

through, synaptics package manager show me i already got libraw1394-11 (2.1.1-2)

what's wrong with it ?

To compile you also need the development packages, which are those with -dev at the end. For example, libraw1394-dev or similar.

Check the jack configuration first. Make sure jack is using the right audio card.
