KXStudio 14.04 and addional drivers

Post by Quillz »

Hi,

I've just installed KXStudio 14.04 and when I tried to change my desktop resolution there is no option to do so - System Settings -> Display and Monitor.

I thought maybe i need to install drivers for my Nvidia card (every install of KXStudio has needed me to) but I can't find Additional drivers in the applications - I've searched.

Not sure what to do and I'm stuck with a 1280x1024 desktop.

Any help is appreciated

I am having pretty much the same problem, trying to install NVIDIA drivers, no Additional Drivers application. Help?

Have you guys looked for "jockey-kde"? Thas is the name of the package in the repositories, if I am not mistaken.

Okay, I think I have this figured out. It looks like jockey-kde was replaced by ubuntu-drivers-common in 14.04. On my system, ubuntu-drivers-common was installed, but to get a GUI for managing drivers I needed to install the package kubuntu-driver-manager. Now I have a Driver Manager in my Launcher and it looks like I can change the NVIDIA driver. Hopefully that will work for you too, Quillz.

i wish they wouldnt keep changing how restricted drivers are managed, what was wrong with jockey?

causes no end of confusing when you use 1 program for ages then upgrade to a new versions of your distro and the program is gone, repalced by something named completly different.

tbh i think i might get rid of ubuntus driver management and use sgfxi instead
