Our Mission Statement, Values, and Vision
Mission Statement
Our mission is to facilitate discussion, learning, and discovery of music making on the Linux platform.
Values
We value open-minded, respectful and friendly avenues of communication.
We value a productive environment for educating Linux users of all skill levels.
We value the opportunities afforded to us by Free/Libre Open Source Software.
We value all projects and communities that join with us in making music on Linux.
Vision for the Future
We are striving to create a healthy, vibrant community that helps people make music using Linux. To this end, we envision an even more active forum, providing a useful and accessible place for discussion and support requests. We will implement a wiki with user-contributed articles, resources, and link-lists. We will have multiple streams for sharing information, including RSS aggregation, podcasts, and video tutorials. We will explore ways to contribute to and support FLOSS projects that we appreciate, depend on, and see potential in. We will always support and remain open to working with other communities that share our goals and values. When we have accomplished this vision, we will seek new and innovative ways to keep pursuing our mission.

Re: Our Mission Statement, Values, and Vision
I would suggest making a section where people would have their artist profiles with released songs and that songs can receive comments.

Aren't there existing sites for that? Perhaps we should start a 'linuxmusicians group' on such a site instead?Louigi Verona wrote:I would suggest making a section where people would have their artist profiles with released songs and that songs can receive comments.

Re: Our Mission Statement, Values, and Vision
I guess myspace.com would be the canonical example, but surely there are more 'hip' alternatives now like bandcamp.com and soundcloud.com ?Louigi Verona wrote:Like what sites?

Re: Our Mission Statement, Values, and Vision
myspace? which allows only 5 tunes to upload? hm.
bandcamp is for different things, it has no comments and such.
today there are not a lot of really good music communities where an artist can create a profile and release tunes and people come and listen and comment and rate. Very oldskool stuff which I would not mind seeing here.
