You can grab the tarball at our sourceforge page:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/hydroge ... z/download

The features of hydrogen 0.9.5:

- Multi-Track Audio Export
- Sample editor
- Midi output (ALSA only)
- Piano-roll editor
- Export to wav, aiff, flac & ogg
- Tempo changes and Tags (both do not work on exported tracks)
- Time-stretching of samples
- LADISH support

A more verbose description of the new features can be found at a page in
our wiki: http://bit.ly/hZm2PX . Most of the features are also described
in our new manual, which can be accessed via the "info" menu of hydrogen.

Thanks to all the translators, developers and users of hydrogen for
their work which lead to this release!
Regards,
the hydrogen team

Congratulations and thanks a lot! Are there (still) Jack Transport sync problems with Hydrogen as slave?

only ladish support or also JackSession (feature request)?

Hi!

No, there's no jack-session support at the moment.
Until now, nobody requested this and i guess that no other
developer uses this at the moment.
The jack transport is as good/bad as in the the 0.9.5 beta versions :-(
I'm lacking the skills to debug it, since i'm not doing the audio-development
in hydrogen. I'm the guy for everything else :)
If you have a ongoing problem, you could try to post it again on our list to make
people aware of it. Maybe someone else picks it up and tries to solve it.

I don't use hydrogen myself that much, but I've heard some problems with syncing (and did have some myself in the past). So I can't help you to debug this precisely. The best thing you could do imo is to involve the Jack devs (jack-devel list) with this issue (assuming other can report a bug more clearly). They said they could fix a Jack Transport bug in Renoise if it's was open source... which Hydrogen is...

I think one and only essential feature of a drumachine on linux is that it gives you rock stable rhythm and keeps the whole band on the right timing :!: Nothing worse then a drummer who's out of sync. Would be the first thing he should improve... So my suggestion for an dev team like hydrogen, make sure you have a rock solid stable drummachine which is 'on time'. After that add new features, only after that...

always had syncing problems with rosegarden and hydrogen, but with qtractor nd seq24 i don't, so i always thought it was a rosegarden-specific problem

Archers: it is allready in extra (man, how I love Arch)

This problem was with Rosegarden indeed. So it could be a Rosegarden problem.

But I thought AutoStatic had also syncing problems with Hydrogen? He uses mainly Qtractor...

AutoStatic :?:

edit: btw Hydrogen 0.9.5 is also in Debian sid already (man how I love Debian) ;)

just completed a song with hydrogen and rosegarden... I use only the hydrogen-svn... never had an issue with them together at all... and yes, Arch...love it!!

Yes I've had syncing problems when using H2 as JACK slave. But since I've been using seq24 to do the sequencing it has become a kind of a non-issue for me. I use H2 solely as a sampler right now and that works ok. Ok as in 'could be better', I've been using 0.9.5 rc1 for a while and it is the buggiest application in my workflow. Hopefully the final 0.9.5 release runs in a more stable manner.

Best,

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy!

No, it is mostly the same as the rc1. Only a few bugs we're squashed out after the rc1. We received virtually no feedback about bugs after the rc1 release :-/ What is it exactly that is buggy? Can you point us to some bugs?

Hello Sebastian,
  • H2 crashes when selecting the last instrument and then adding a new one
  • H2 crashes when doing a bit more complex things in the sample editor
  • H2 crashes when moving/copying patterns in Select mode (not sure what the exact steps are to reproduce this)
  • H2 crashes when using the MIDI learning functionality on certain knobs/sliders
  • H2 has polyphony issues, notes get dropped sometimes but I can't really figure out when that happens exactly
  • JACK port names of new instruments don't get updated unless you reload the project file
Best,

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy!

Thanks for your list, this might help me! Are the bugs (1) and (4) of your reproducible for you with the final version of 0.9.5? I have tested them a little bit now, but i can't get it to crash.
The jack portnames thing looks more like a reproducable bug :) I'll put on our bugtracker and see what we can do.
Thanks a lot for the report!

dunno if this was asked yet but will there be a LV2 version of H2?
I'm pretty sure the Windows boyz would be requesting a VST version and I can see why, LV2 and VSTs are handy in a DAW...

Hi!

There is a project which uses the hydrogen codebase to build a lv2-capable synth: http://gabe.is-a-geek.org/composite/ . I don't know how usable this is at the moment.
I think that there are no other intentions to build a lv2 plugin from the other hydrogen dev's at the moment.
