I trust someone can do a review of the new revolutionary GROOVE X6 64 bit workstation run on LINUX(Kubunuo 9.10 OS 64 bit).It is due to roll out on March 23rd as well as their Live Arranger Module(it was released on March 12th )
The only onus is the price of that workstation but it is like you got a Korg + Roland top of the line for 1/2 price !
This product seems to be light years away from any competition.
Lionstracs is in Italy

Note-Who will sell their products(or is selling them) for US/Canada ?
Tired of looking at Roland,Korg etc that are Linux unfriendly;I am using Debian 5.0.4 for my daily chores and Musix 2.0 (kernel 2.6.29.4) http://www.musix.org.ar to connect my musical instruments..
Debian 5.0.4 is not too multimedia friendly and they still have kernel bugs, flashplayers, iceweasel ,etc..crashes a lot etc..

If you've ever tried to buy illuminated buttons and industrial-grade touchscreens, you'll understand the price
Looks very good, but I guess one could buy a very good notebook and a masterkeyboard for a lot less. And I'm very sceptical of using Ubuntu and KDE in an integrated product. If the thing decides to upgrade itself from the repos, you can expect someting to break at some point.

I'm with spm_gl, one could set up a similiar configuration for like a third of their price and that also gets you the freedom to do with your setup what you want, not being dependant on some vendor.
Re: LIONSTRACS new LINUX GROOVE 64 bit workstation
yeah you can build everything yourself, but time and knowledge may scares sometimes... So give those people a fair chance to make some money with their Linux based products. Man, freaking hard to make some money with open source software, but one of the important values of GPL is that you're allowed sell it. And such commercial products improve the quality of stuff. You see this on Ardour and Mixbus. Since Mixbus, AU plugin support is much more an priority and much more improved...
But I'm sure spm_gl and autostatic are better off building such a system one selves... others might better off when buying such a system And of course you are free to speak out your opinion on these products, no question about that.

Re: LIONSTRACS new LINUX GROOVE 64 bit workstation
I don't have any problems with their product, and as stated, I know how much it costs to build hardware. The only thing I'm worried about is their use of Kubuntu, simply from a reliability standpoint. The good thing about putting together your own system is, when it breaks, you usually know why.
Re: LIONSTRACS new LINUX GROOVE 64 bit workstation
I tend to agree with the preceeding comments..However I am unable at this point to find out how they can maintain a basic stabel OS-perhaps if a download has problems the system automatically reverts to its previous stable version or dependencies...
As for the Linux for musix the only one that seems to have a good following and stable is MUSIXv 2.0(from Argentina).
One can go to http://distrowatch.com to find out thelatest versions of Linuxes geered towards musicians like Artistx v 0.8; Musix v 2.0; UbuntuStudio v 9.10 and 64Studio v 2.1. Plus you have special packages for Fedora,Open Suse,Debian, etc ...
Maybe LIONSTRACS can get into an agreement with a Chinese/Indian company in order to make their products more affordable ?!
Finally- anyone knows if their Groove product will be reviewed by a Linux publication or music mag ?
Yours,rey...
Note-I have founnd that Musix v2.0 is the most stable and music oriented distro-their set up is a bit different but very easy to master...
